According to ZDNet Korea, Apple is considering a high-refresh-rate display for the iPhone 19e, which is expected to arrive in spring 2028.

The iPhone 17e still has a 60 Hz OLED panel, along with a single rear camera and a relatively modest battery. The iPhone 19e is reportedly set for a major upgrade. Apple plans to fit a 120 Hz LTPO OLED display, allowing the refresh rate to adjust dynamically between 1 Hz and 120 Hz according to the content being shown. This is the same principle used by ProMotion on pricier iPhone models, and it could make scrolling, animations and overall responsiveness noticeably smoother.

Display specifications and battery efficiency

As usual, Apple is expected to use components from earlier flagship models to keep costs down. In this case, the panel may be borrowed from the iPhone 17 series: a 6.3-inch display with a 2622 x 1206 resolution and high brightness for HDR content. Moving from LTPS to LTPO should also improve power efficiency, which is expected to result in longer battery life during everyday use.

Always-on display support

Another likely addition is support for an always-on display, a feature that has so far been exclusive to more expensive iPhone models. LTPO technology allows the screen to switch to a very low refresh rate, making it possible to show essential information without using significant power.
