Orange and Sosh mobile outage

It is a difficult start to the week. On Monday 29 June, Orange’s mobile network and that of its Sosh subsidiary were hit by a major nationwide outage. Across France, thousands of reports have been logged, with some customers unable to make calls or use 4G or 5G mobile internet.

Subscribers have reported the problems in large numbers on DownDetector, while thousands of comments have also appeared on social media.

Orange has already confirmed the incident, stating:

“Since this morning, a technical incident has affected some Orange mobile services, causing disruption to 4G, 5G, roaming and certain services for business customers. Technical teams are fully mobilised to assess the situation and restore service as quickly as possible. Orange apologises to the affected customers.”

How to stay connected during the Orange outage

While waiting for the issue to be fixed, which could take some time, our colleagues at 01Net suggest the following solution:

“However, you can put a few temporary measures in place to keep communicating. First, activate Wi-Fi calling in your phone settings if you have a working fixed internet connection at home or in the office. For text conversations or calls, use instant messaging applications connected to Wi-Fi. Finally, if the issue continues after Orange says it has been resolved, simply restart your device or briefly enable aeroplane mode to force it to search for the restored signal.”
