DJI Osmo Pocket 4: the new benchmark for pocket cameras?

DJI has launched a new version of its handheld camera: the Osmo Pocket 4. While it retains the established formula, it introduces some welcome refinements designed to make life easier for users. Could it leave rival products behind?

Could the Osmo Pocket 4 become the new benchmark for pocket cameras? That is certainly DJI’s ambition with this 2026 edition, unveiled today. There is no radical departure from the Osmo Pocket 3, but the many upgrades could make it an essential product.

What is new in the design?

The Osmo Pocket 4 follows the range’s familiar design, with several adjustments. Two new buttons now sit below the rotating screen: one provides instant x2 and x4 zoom, while the other lets users set up presets in moments. A magnet has also been added, allowing a range of accessories to be attached to the Osmo, including a lens or an additional light.

The joystick has likewise been refined to offer better camera control. Its overall design remains the same as the Osmo Pocket 3’s, which is no bad thing given how formidable this format is.

What new features does the Osmo Pocket 4 offer?

The Osmo Pocket 4 retains its 1-inch CMOS sensor and f/2.0 aperture, but it can now record in 4K at 240 fps. DJI also promises improved low-light capture and more effective stabilisation.

DJI is particularly aiming to impress with its features, including highly accurate subject tracking, even at x4 zoom. It is intended to be simple to use: a subject can be locked with a single press on the screen, then switched using the same action. DJI also promises that autofocus will keep faces consistently sharp.

A person being filmed can show their palm to activate automatic tracking remotely, or take photos by making a V sign with their fingers. This will be useful for vloggers who enjoy appearing in their own videos. They will also have plenty of storage to work with, thanks to the 107 GB of built-in memory. Battery life remains unchanged, with up to 240 minutes of 1080p recording, while fast charging restores 80% of the battery in just 18 minutes.

How much does the Osmo Pocket 4 cost?

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 is available now in several bundles:

• A Creator bundle, which adds the wide-angle lens for Osmo Pocket 3, the DJI Mic 3 transmitter, DJI Mic 3 magnetic clip, two DJI Mic 3 windshields, DJI Mic 3 magnet, magnetic charging cable for the DJI Mic 3 transmitter, Osmo Pocket 4 fill light, Osmo mini tripod and Osmo Pocket 4 carrying bag.

These prices are highly consistent with what is being offered. One thing is certain: the Osmo Pocket 4 has every chance of becoming the new benchmark in the handheld camera market.
