During DroneShow 2026 in São Paulo, Zona Militar’s correspondent in Brazil, Angelo Nicolaci, visited the Modirum GESPI stand to examine the company’s latest unmanned aerial system solutions for reconnaissance, precision-strike and loitering munition missions.

The development of modern conflicts has reinforced the role of attack drones and loitering munitions as essential components of contemporary military operations. By bringing surveillance, target identification and strike capabilities together in a single platform, these systems shorten the interval between detection and engagement, improving accuracy while limiting troop exposure.

Against this backdrop, Modirum GESPI showcased a family of solutions built around its SISU AI architecture, which brings together aerial platforms, sensors, advanced software and several payload types to meet the requirements of modern battlefields.

Vectron M unmanned aerial system

Among the company’s principal exhibits was the Vectron M, a defence Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) intended to operate in complex, heavily contested environments.

The platform uses the SISU AI technology architecture, providing a high level of autonomy and the ability to adapt to operational conditions. One of its key distinguishing features is its ability to function in GNSS-denied environments, retaining navigation capability despite electronic interference or spoofing attempts against satellite positioning systems.

Vectron M also features drone-swarming capabilities, enabling several aircraft to operate in a coordinated manner, share information and autonomously carry out cooperative missions. This is regarded as a strategic capability amid the growing adoption of distributed operations and the saturation of defences by unmanned systems.

Planned missions include Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations, target acquisition and tracking, precision strikes, and Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) missions, allowing the effects of an engagement to be assessed through real-time video transmission.

DART loitering munition

Another highlight of the display was DART, a loitering munition developed to offer mobility, rapid deployment and substantial destructive capability against armoured targets.

The system is carried in a compact launch tube, allowing small teams to deploy it quickly in an operational setting. Once launched, its wings and control surfaces automatically unfold in flight, beginning navigation towards the designated area of interest.

Powered electrically, DART carries a HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) payload specifically designed to neutralise armoured vehicles, main battle tanks, fortified positions and other high-value targets.

This feature makes DART a modern anti-tank solution, combining the endurance characteristic of loitering munitions with the destructive power required to counter armoured threats on the battlefield. The concept enables the operator to identify, confirm and strike a target more accurately, reducing the risk of wasting munitions and increasing the likelihood of neutralisation.

The system can switch between autonomous flight and manual control at any stage of the mission, including in the final moments of the terminal dive onto the target. Advanced communications features, procedures for signal loss and a mission-abort function complete its operational capabilities.

Mk3 “Sargento” FPV platform

Modirum GESPI also presented the Mk3 “Sargento”, a First Person View (FPV) platform developed for short-range missions.

With an operational range of up to 30 kilometres, the system was designed for reconnaissance, target acquisition and precision-strike missions. Its concept follows the trend seen in recent conflicts, in which FPV drones have assumed a central role in tactical operations because of their low acquisition cost and high effectiveness against different types of threat.

The platform is intended to provide a flexible solution for units that need to expand their battlefield observation and engagement capacity rapidly.

Complementing the platforms on show, Modirum GESPI highlighted its SISU AI technology architecture, designed to combine advanced software, sensors, navigation systems, aerial platforms and varied payloads within a single operational ecosystem.

The solution was designed to provide greater autonomy, situational awareness and operational efficiency, allowing systems to undertake complex missions in increasingly demanding environments.

According to the company, its in-house ability to design, manufacture and integrate every critical component ensures full control over platform development and technological evolution. In addition, SISU AI™ modules and payloads developed by the company can be supplied separately for integration into existing systems.

Loitering munitions: an increasingly relevant capability

The growth of loitering munitions is one of the most significant trends seen in conflicts over recent decades. These systems combine the characteristics of reconnaissance drones and precision-guided weapons, enabling them to remain above an area of interest until a suitable target is identified for engagement.

By combining endurance, precision and operational flexibility, loitering munitions are reshaping how armed forces plan and conduct offensive missions, providing an effective option between conventional drones and traditional missile systems.

The solutions displayed by Modirum GESPI at DroneShow 2026 demonstrate how the defence industry continues to invest in technologies that can increase the autonomy, decision-making capability and precision of unmanned systems, in line with the demands of modern combat scenarios.
