Mario Strikers: Battle League arrives on Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch has hosted a wealth of sporting outings starring Mario and company. Mario Tennis Aces, Mario Golf: Super Rush and even Mario's Olympic appearance have all come to the hybrid console, yet one major sport has remained absent from its catalogue. That changes in June, when Mario Strikers returns in Battle League. In this episode of New Gameplay Today, we explore everything newly added to the series.
Join hosts Alex Van Aken and Alex Stadnik as they pull on their boots, step onto the pitch and assess whether Mario's latest adventure is worth getting excited about. Across this seven-minute video, we showcase plenty of football-fuelled chaos, including Hyper Strikes. These highly stylised moves may be impossible to stop, resulting in an automatic goal and two points, though there is a catch. Players must time their attempts accurately; otherwise, the opposing side can block the shot and waste the charged-up kick.
Hyper Strikes, gear upgrades and Strikers Club
Alongside Hyper Strikes, we cover other additions including gear upgrades and Strikers Club. So, how does the latter operate? As Brian Shea's preview explains:
This online mode allows you to create or join a club with up to 20 people. From there, any four players from an established club can hop online and compete against another Strikers Club. Based on how you do in the match, you earn coins and club points.
Mario's return to the pitch in Battle League reaches Switch on 10 June, so anyone eager to play will not have long to wait. For more previews of the industry's biggest games, visit our YouTube page for looks at Forspoken, Diablo Immortal and MultiVersus!
