Mina the Hollower New Gameplay Today Preview

A brave mouse warrior with a red scarf swings a glowing chain weapon in a spooky graveyard under a full moon.

For years, the internet has speculated about how developer Yacht Club Games would follow the success of indie favourite Shovel Knight. The answer is now clear: Mina the Hollower, a stunning tribute to classic Zelda and Game Boy games. In today’s episode of New Gameplay Today, we get hands-on with the game.

Mina the Hollower: story and protagonist

Join John Carson and Alex Stadnik as they share everything you need to know about Mina. They cover the spoiler-free elements of the story, introduce the new mouse heroine, and explain why she is gathering as many bones as possible along the way.

Mina the Hollower gameplay mechanics

The pair also explore the game’s fresh mechanics. Shovel Knight fans need not worry: there is still plenty of digging, with Mina burrowing through the beautifully realised pixel-art world. She can also take down her bone-clutching enemies with Castlevania-inspired weapons, including a whip and throwing axes. She will need every weapon she can find, as Yacht Club is raising the difficulty too. From the previously mentioned wicked enemies to hazardous puzzles, players will certainly have plenty to contend with when Mina the Hollower arrives in late 2023.
