Free has announced a partnership with Netflix, launching a Stranger Things-themed Freebox Ultra. This “limited” edition will not be confined to only the most die-hard fans.
If you are a Stranger Things fan, you are probably eagerly awaiting the fifth and final season. Free’s Freebox Ultra Stranger Things limited edition offers a dedicated box from which to launch Netflix.
The box is the result of a collaboration between Free and Netflix, and was developed by the Paris-based operator’s teams from May. Free says the partnership was made possible by the two companies’ shared DNA: technological innovation, transparent communication with fans and a willingness to disrupt the market. Netflix says it selected Free because it is the only company to design its boxes from A to Z.
A red box inspired by the Upside Down
Make no mistake: this is still a Freebox Ultra, with the same performance levels. It therefore includes Wi-Fi 7, a significant technical advantage. It does, however, feature several design changes, including an LED strip running across its full length - which Free describes as a genuine technical challenge - customisable screen animations through the app, and artwork inspired by the series. It depicts the favourite teenage characters cycling away from the Demogorgon. It may not be the most elegant addition to a living room, but fans will appreciate it.
Freebox Ultra Stranger Things availability and price
There is no need to worry about getting hold of one: Free says there will be enough for everyone. The Freebox Ultra is available from today in its 266 physical shops. Why 4 November? Simply to arrive in time for Stranger Things Day on 6 November, the date on which Will disappears into the Upside Down in the series.
There is no additional cost, as the box is offered at €49.99 per month for one year. Netflix is, naturally, included in the subscription at no extra charge, albeit on its cheapest ad-supported plan.
Stranger Things season 5 release schedule
As a reminder, season 5 of Stranger Things will be released in three parts. The first instalment, containing four episodes, will air on 27 November. The second, comprising three episodes, will follow on 26 December. Finally, the grand finale will be available on 1 January 2026. Netflix is clearly aiming to make this final season a worldwide event, through both a staggered episode release and local commercial initiatives such as this one with Free.
